Fox’s Discoveries about Cotton
Fox has also discovered the flame-resistant properties of some discarded cotton plants--the “weeds” of different colors that were pulled out of otherwise homogenous plots.
When the brown cotton didn’t burn easily, she recognized the possibility of producing a safe cotton for children’s sleepwear.
She now selectively breeds for fire resistance and continues to look for other advantages that colored cotton may offer.
